Full Review: ZyXEL Communications, Inc. P-2000W v.2
The XyXEL Wi-Fi phone was designed mainly for businesses, but we've been enjoying it in our homes and home offices, using it as a convenient way to hop onto our wireless (Wi-Fi) access points for making cheap phone calls using the Internet.

Expanded Ratings: ZyXEL Communications, Inc. P-2000W v.2
Design   ( / 5 )
The P-2000w v.2 is aesthetically pleasing and conveniently sized. The one design area that we think is less than perfect is the user interface. It's very much a text-based, heirarchical menu system, and we'd love it if ZyXEL took a more graphical approach like those found on most cell phones today.
Features   ( / 5 )
Supports SIP -- which means it works with many (if not most) VoIP service providers. Works on any 802.11b or 802.11g Wi-Fi network. The only real missing feature -- and this is not found on any Wi-Fi phone on the market yet -- is support for the WPA encryption system that we recommend people use to maximize security on their networks.
Performance   ( / 5 )
Works great on our newtorks (we dedicated an old 802.11b access point for the purpose, because our primary 802.11g access points had WPA enabled). Voice quality was excellent, and placing phone calls was easy as dialing a number.
Value   ( / 5 )
These phones are really designed for businesses who are willing to pay a bit more to put their calls on the Wi-Fi network. For a consumer trying to save money by using an inexpensive VoIP service, the price of the phone would take a long time to pay back. We expect that ZyXEL (and competitors) will lower the prices for these types of phones sooner rather than later. For now, priced for early adopters who want a cool phone!
